Inclusion

Unfortunately, it is often still difficult to complete undergraduate and graduate studies with a disability or a chronic illness. TUM and its institutions are constantly working to expand target-group-specific support offerings and to improve accessibility. In order to help undergraduates and doctoral candidates with disabilities or chronic illnesses participate equally and independently in their majors, doctoral programs and campus life, TUM-GS, TUM Equal Opportunity Office and other offices offer a variety of support services.

Support Services from TUM-GS

Doctoral candidates with disabilities or chronic illnesses can apply for the TUM-GS Degree Completion Grant if their doctorate has been delayed due to personal circumstances. The scholarship covers living expenses for the last 3-6 months of the doctorate, and awards the student 1,200 euros/month.

If you are planning a research stay abroad or want to present your own research findings at international conferences and symposia, you can apply for a TUM-GS Diversity Supplement Travel Grant (applies to additional costs caused by your personal circumstances).

More information about the abovementioned financing options can be found in the Financial Support section for doctoral candidates.

TUM-GS promotes barrier-free participation in all central TUM-GS courses, such as the kick-off seminar and interdisciplinary courses. If you have any questions about accessibility and/or specific personal needs, please contact our TUM-GS Diversity Officer, Ms. Zizheng Zhang (tel. 089.289.10631, zhang@zv.tum.de).
