Language Courses

As a doctoral candidate at TUM, you can take part in the language courses at the TUM Language Center. These courses are the ideal opportunity to professionalize your foreign language and professional language skills at a university-oriented level. In addition to German as a foreign language and a wide range of English courses, we currently offer programs parallel to the semester in seventeen languages. Please review the current course catalogue on the TUM Language Center’s website.

German as a Foreign Language

Language is an essential part of every country’s professional and day-to-day culture. That is why the TUM Graduate School, in cooperation with the TUM Language Center, offers international doctoral candidates the opportunity to learn German throughout the semester. They can deepen their language skills here in order to gain better access to Germany's culture and society.

The eight-week “German as a foreign language” courses take place at all three main TUM locations and are available for every skill level. Participation is free for all members of the TUM Graduate School.

  • English Writing Center: one-on-one support for improving English expression skills, writing style, etc., based on your own texts.
