Career Path: Professorship at a University of Applied Sciences (HAW) - 22 October 2026

The session will address the specific features of a HAW professorship, the differences between career paths at universities and universities of applied sciences, and the evolving role of HAWs in research, teaching, and knowledge transfer. In addition, the qualifications and requirements for a successful application will be discussed. Prof. Dr. Fanny Kählke from the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences at Deggendorf Institute of Technology will offer personal insights into her work as a HAW professor and her career trajectory. As a former doctoral researcher at TUM, she will share her experience of transitioning from doctoral studies to a professorship at a university of applied sciences. Following the presentations, there will be ample opportunity for questions, discussion, and networking with the speaker and fellow participants.
