This year’s AdONE retreat took place over two focused days in the scenic town of Bernried, located on the shores of Lake Starnberg. Researchers from across the group came together to present their work, exchange ideas, and strengthen academic connections.
Ph.D. students played a central role, presenting their current research projects and receiving constructive feedback from peers and principal investigators. These sessions encouraged lively discussions and offered a valuable platform for interdisciplinary learning and development.
In addition to the presentations, PI-Ph.D. meetings provided space for personalized guidance and deeper conversations about research progress and future directions. These interactions helped foster a supportive and collaborative environment within the group.
A session of the Women’s Mentoring Program was also part of the retreat. Under the theme “How to succeed and be heard in academia,” participants discussed strategies for gaining visibility, networking effectively, and dealing with overlooked contributions. Two professors shared personal experiences and offered practical advice, making the session a thoughtful addition to the program.
Despite the compact schedule, the retreat offered meaningful opportunities for exchange and reflection. The peaceful surroundings contributed to a productive and collegial atmosphere, reinforcing the group’s commitment to academic excellence and collaboration.
