From July 21–25, AdONE hosted an inspiring international summer school on Optimization-Augmented Machine Learning at the TUM Campus Heilbronn.
This one-week event brought together researchers and students from around the world to explore how operations research and machine learning can be meaningfully integrated to go beyond prediction and address real-world decision-making under uncertainty.
Key topics included:
- Combinatorial optimization layers
- Structured prediction
- End-to-end differentiable pipelines
- Reinforcement learning
- Empirical cost minimization
- Stochastic multi-stage planning
The program featured lectures and tutorials by leading experts:
- Prof. Bissan Ghaddar (Ivey Business School)
- Dr. Wouter van Heeswijk (University of Twente)
- Dr. Guillaume Dalle (École des Ponts)
- Dr. Leo Baty (CERMICS)
With participants from the AdONE Research Training Group and institutions such as MIT, Imperial College London, and DTU, the summer school offered a vibrant international atmosphere, stimulating discussions, and excellent opportunities for networking.
We thank all speakers, participants, and organizers for making this a memorable and enriching week at TUM Campus Heilbronn!
