Diversity counseling and contact points

In addition to the advisory services offered by the TUM Graduate School and its graduate centers, there are other extensive advisory services and contact points on diversity issues at TUM that are geared toward the different needs of the various target groups. There are also various contact points and networks outside TUM.

TUM Graduate Council

Doctoral candidates who have experienced discrimination or racism in their day-to-day research at TUM are welcome to contact the spokespersons of the TUM Graduate Council for peer support. The Graduate Council represents the interests of doctoral candidates and is a good (first) independent point of contact for all concerns of our doctoral candidates. 

  • TUM Family Service
    The TUM Family Service offers comprehensive advice on childcare options in and outside TUM and on holiday childcare in the Bavarian school holidays.   • TUM Contact persons for sexual harassment/sexualized violence 
    The Technical University of Munich is committed to the comprehensive protection of all members of the university against sexual harassment and sexualized violence.   • Counseling center Frauenennotruf München 
    The Frauennotruf München is a counseling center and crisis hotline for women, but also for trans-, inter-, and non-binary people in cases of sexual harassment, assault, and violence. Counseling is also available anonymously. Tel: 089 76 37 37, frauennotruf-muenchen.de 
     
  • Violence Against Men helpline
    The Violence Against Men helpline supports men who have experienced violence in their partnership, domestic environment, at work, or who are exposed to stalking and bullying.   • Bavaria Against Violence
    The Bavaria Against Violence platform of the Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Labor and Social Affairs offers a comprehensive overview of help and advice services and background information for people and their relatives who are affected by different types of violence. https://bayern-gegen-gewalt.de/english/ 
     
  • Scicomm-Support
    Scicomm-Support is the national contact point for scientists in the event of (digital) attacks and unobjective conflicts in scientific communication. https://scicomm-support.de/en/
     

  • Weisser Ring e.V.
    Weisser Ring e.V. is a nationwide support organization for victims of crime, bullying and violence. The victim's helpline 116 006 is available daily from 7:00 – 22:00. The various local branches also offer direct personal support close to home. https://weisser-ring.de/english

  • Bündnis gegen Cybermobbing e.V.
    The Bündnis gegen Cybermobbing e.V. provides support in cases of cyberbullying. https://www.buendnis-gegen-cybermobbing.de/

  • TUM Compliance Office
    The TUM Compliance Office is responsible for the implementation of the TUM Codes of Conduct and provides support in the event of violations, e.g. experiences of discrimination. https://www.tum.de/en/about-tum/goals-and-values/tum-compliance-office 
     
  • Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency 
    The Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency offers initial legal advice in cases of discrimination, extensive background information on various facets of discrimination, and a database of local counselling services in Germany. https://www.antidiskriminierungsstelle.de/EN/homepage/homepage-node.html
     

  • BEFORE e.V.
    BEFORE is a counseling center in Munich for people confronted by right-wing and racist violence and discrimination.   • TUM Disabled Persons Office

  • TUM Student Advising: Studying with Special Needs

  • Advice for Students with a Disability and/or Chronic Diseases – Studierendenwerk München

  • Commissioner for the Disabled of the City of Munich 
    The Disability Commissioner is the point of contact for all Munich citizens with a disability and their relatives.   • Pfennigparade
    The Pfennigparade advises people with physical disabilities and their relatives on social law issues, housing, support services, and financial matters.   • Caritas Offene Hilfen for People with Disabilities Munich
    The ‘Offene Hilfen’ (open help) is a contact point for people with mental and/or physical disabilities, chronic illnesses, and people at risk of disability.   • Club Behinderter und ihrer Freunde e.V. München und Region 
    The Club Behinderter und ihrer Freunde e.V. München und Region (CBF) is an association that organizes joint events (e.g., wheelchair hikes) for disabled and non-disabled people in the Munich region.   • Strong! LGBTIQ* counseling center for empowerment against discrimination and violence
    Strong! is the first point of contact in Bavaria for LGBTIQ* people, their relatives, and friends who have experienced violence or discrimination. Strong! also provides support with questions relating to sexual orientation and identity, as well as coming out. Counseling is available by telephone at 0800 00 112 03, online, or in person at one of the counseling centers. https://strong-community.de/
     
  • Queer Network Bavaria (QNB)
    The Queer Network Bavaria (QNB) is a central state platform for LGBTIQ* in the Free State of Bavaria. The platform bundles information on counseling services, events, and the queer community in general. https://queeresnetzwerk.bayern/
     
  • Trans*Inter*Beratungsstelle 
    The Trans*Inter*Beratungsstelle (Trans*Inter*Counseling Center) provides counseling for trans* and inter* people, their family members and friends. The counseling services are free of charge, confidential, and anonymous on request. https://www.trans-inter-beratungsstelle.de/en/home.html 
     
  • Rainbow Refugees Munich
