Structure and Organization
The TUM Graduate School (TUM-GS) is a central scientific institution of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and is an umbrella organization for several units. It includes the TUM-GS management office, 11 Graduate Centers and the TUM Graduate Council (representative organ for TUM doctoral candidates). Since 2014, all TUM doctoral candidates are automatically members of the TUM-GS, while they are exclusively members of a relevant Graduate Center.
The highest administrative body of the TUM-GS is the Management Board, chaired by the Graduate Dean. The Graduate Dean is responsible for strategic management, and represents the TUM-GS both internally and to the public.
The Executive Board is advised by an external Scientific Council consisting of well-known personalities from academic and public life.
The Committee of Graduate Center Spokespersons represents the respective sub-programs of TUM-GS on the central university level.
Doctoral candidate representatives are organized analogously in the Graduate Council of the TUM-GS.
The TUM-GS Management Office helps these bodies fulfill their tasks, and organizes the service and qualification offerings at the university level.
