The course program created by the TUM Graduate School is taught by a selection of highly qualified and experienced trainers and coaches. The selection is continuously evaluated according to international quality standards.
Dr. Ruth Adam is a neuroscientist, data scientist and a yoga teacher. After her Ph.D. in neuroscience she conducted research in various topics and institutions including the Max-Planck-Institute and the University Hospital of Munich (LMU) before transitioning to industry, giving her firsthand knowledge of the challenges in conducting a Ph.D. and the research & industry-life thereafter. She is a certified yoga teacher since 2012, and has since completed the advanced as well as pre- and postnatal teacher trainings. She has many years of teaching experience in both yoga and academia. The methods that will be taught here helped her throughout her career to relieve stress.
Esther Arens, M.A. studied political science at the LMU Munich. After working there as a research assistant, she founded the training and consulting company Esther Arens - Kompass für Bildung (Munich). Her core competences include "academic work and writing", "learning management", "efficient reading" and "didactics". She has been working as a lecturer/trainer at universities, colleges and independent educational institutions for a total of 18 years and trains specialists and managers. She also advises and coaches doctoral candidates and students.
Dr. phil. Aniko Balazs is an independent writing consultant with extensive experience in facilitating academic writing and communication. Her professional background has predisposed her to building bridges between cultures and languages, as well as between representatives of different disciplines. Before obtaining her PhD in comparative sociolinguistics, she graduated as a teacher of English and Russian language and literature. For more than twenty years, she has worked as a translator and interpreter in English, Russian, German and Hungarian in the fields of medicine and information technology. Since the establishment of the TUM Graduate School in 2009, she has been teaching generations of doctoral candidates in in-house writing courses and kick-off seminars. As a freelance trainer, she runs workshops and courses on scientific and technical writing for universities, research centres, graduate schools and industry partners, and provides individual writing and editing consultancy.
Daniel Barth is supporting international companies as a coach, consultant and facilitator on their way to more innovation, agility and organization. Originally majoring in cultural studies (focusing on China and Japan) he made his way into the start-up scene of Munich. Inspired by entrepreneurial theory and methods of innovation, he co-founded the creaffective GmbH in 2013 and has been a part of the team ever since. His main focus topics are effective collaboration and creativity, corporate innovation, and dynamic forms of leadership.
Dr. Thomas Becker works as a trainer and consultant for project management, team collaboration, and organizational development. He helps companies, individual teams, and public institutions with the design of projects and agile teams. Thomas graduated from the field of computational linguistics and holds a Ph.D. in sociology.
Thomas Benischke is a Master of Business and Economics Education, consultant, trainer, and coach.

Prof. Dr. Nicola Breugst focuses on the people side of entrepreneurship and analyzes the role of cognition, motivation, and emotion in the entrepreneurial process. Her research also examines how entrepreneurs collaborate with their co-founders, employees, and external partners. Since 2012, Nicola works as a Professor of Entrepreneurial Behavior at TUM. With a PhD in entrepreneurship, a university degree in psychology, and experience working across three continents, she brings a rich interdisciplinary and internationalperspective to the classroom where she is enthusiastic about sharing her passion for entrepreneurship.
Micha Brück graduated from TUM in 1997 as an agricultural engineer. He has been working as a minister for more than 18 years and is a certified counselor at “Bildungsinitiative”. He focuses especially on personality development and relational leadership, training young people to develop and use their communication and leadership skills. He also works with experienced leaders and coaches leadership teams. Furthermore, he is executive director and teacher at the EBS, an international Christian school with focus on skills training, interpersonal relationships, family life and leadership. Micha Brück has been married for 17 years and is a father of two children. In his free time he is a passionate motorcyclist.
Dr. Markus Burger holds a B.A. and M.Sc. from Oxford University and a PhD from FU Berlin. He learned his skills while working as a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. He has produced slides and stories for Fortune-500 management boards and academic top conferences in Germany, Europe and the US.
Francesca Carlin is an American communication trainer and personal coach. For over a decade, she has helped professionals improve their public speaking, develop their presence, and apply the practice of mindful communication. She has worked in Russia and the U.S. and is currently working in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Francesca is a trained actress and studied theatre at Boston and Harvard University. Over the years she has found that using acting techniques and exercises helps people to overcome personal barriers and to become more effective communicators. With her background in the performing arts, she has created a unique approach to her workshops and trainings, in which she incorporates and implements the best practices from both the world of communication skills development and theater.
Dr. Matthias Creydt ist Rechtsanwalt und seit über 20 Jahren in dem Bereich des Exportkontrollrechts und der Export Compliance tätig. Während dieser Zeit hat er u.a. für das Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt gearbeitet, für einen Motorenentwickler im Automobilbereich sowie für Airbus, bevor er eine auf diesem Gebiet spezialisierte Rechtsanwaltskanzlei gegründet hat.
Dr. Luisa Demant is a Facilitator for Yoga, Embodiment and Professional Development.
Dr. Luisa Demant lives in London (Tower Hamelts) and work with individuals as well as groups and offer yoga classes, group workshops and individual coaching sessions. She is also working in co-operation with the National Health Service (NHS) as well as Queen Mary University.
Dr. Sandra Dierig is a consultant for project management. With her consulting firm einszeit managementberatung & coaching she works for universities as well as for companies in the private sector. For the company ifok she works as a senior consultant in the Project Management Office. Her focus in each case is on building structures, processes and competencies for project management among employees and for the organization as a whole. Ms. Dierig earned her doctorate in project management and has been giving seminars for doctoral students and post docs at various universities for 20 years.
Kerstin Dübner-Gee is responsible for the internal program development in the Fraunhofer Academy's education management team since July 2014. Her main focus is on program development for Fraunhofer's research management. She holds a master in Human Resources Development, a diploma in Social Work and is a systemic advisor as well as a career coach. Her work experience in science-, network- and research management is manifold. She worked inter alia as the coordinator of the future concept of TU Munich for TUM's presidental office for the German excellence initiative and as the head of a novel recruiting initiative of the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology.
Michelle Eberhard, lives in Munich and grew up bilingually - German-Russian. She studied Social and Cultural Anthropology with a focus on Organisational Anthropology and Intercultural Communication, during which she was qualified as an intercultural trainer and awarded the German Scholarship. In addition to her studies, she researched corporate culture at one German and one Malaysian location of a German corporation, trained as an international work camp leader, gained experience in NGO work in Jordan, worked in the field of sustainability and deepened her skills as an intercultural trainer on a voluntary basis within the student association SINIK (Student Initiative for Intercultural Communication). As a trainer, she works on the topics of culture(s), intercultural communication, change of perspective, diversity, intercultural sensitization and collaboration in diverse teams.
Prof. Dr. Guido Ellert received his diploma in science of sports and politics from the TUM, his PhD in communication psychology also from TUM. Since 2007 he is professor for Media Management at the MHMK Macromedia University for Media and Communication, and since 2013 he leads the Mediamanagement School in Munich as vice chair. Additionally, he works as a vice director for the AUDI Research Institute. His main research interests are in the management of the unexpected in complex systems, high performance teams, co-creation and service experience in sports- and liveworlds. Together with colleagues, he has published several papers in different international journals to these topics.
Dr. Alexander Egeling is a certified trainer and coach for scientists. He studied and worked at universities in Germany, Australia, and Canada. Wolfgang Fänderl, Päd. M.A. hat neben seinem Studium in Sozialwissenschaften und diversen anderen Fortbildungen, viel Praxiserfahrung in Coaching- und Workhop-Arbeit. Er berät und begleitet Organisationen, Netzwerke und Kommunen bei Fragen des Kooperationsmanagements. Sein Schwerpunkt in einem Forschungsprojekt der Bertelsmann-Stiftung an der LMU München war die Vereinbarkeit von Eigensinn und Gemeinsinn bei Beteiligungsprozessen. Dr. Angela Firmhofer is a geographer and cultural scientist working as trainer and consultant. Her focus is on personality development and sustainable transformation. She supports people in discovering and developing their own potential, in living authentically, lovingly, motivated, communicatively competent and self-confidently and in promoting positive change for themselves, others and the world.

Christa Forster is one of our trainers from UnternehmerTUM, the largest center for innovation and business creation in Europe. In her more than nine years of experience in guiding and moderating teams and groups, she has developed from deep empathy and target group work, user experience, design thinking and agile approaches to deep inner work for new ways of working, life-centered design, (re-)generative and transformative leadership approaches. Christa is driven by inner development for outer change and empowering individuals who want to actively shape things from within to act and think responsibly for themselves, the collective and the planet. She designs experience-based and mindful learning spaces and deeply involves participants through practical exercises and application-based reflections.
Simone Freitag holds a PhD in psychology with a focus in health psychology. She has extensive experience in the scientific field, including planning and conducting of research projects, publications, research proposals and academic teaching. She was a research associate at the University of Greifswald and the Robert Koch Institute and at the Federal Joint Committee (Health Care) in Berlin. As a trainer, she gives workshops on topics such as mentoring, health and career development.
David Giltner, Ph.D., has spent more than twenty years developing cutting-edge photonics technologies into commercial products in the fields of optical communications, remote sensing, directed energy, and scientific instrumentation. David has developed the unique ability to function well in both highly technical and business circles and has often functioned as an interpreter to help these two worlds communicate more productively. In 2017 he started TurningScience to provide training and support for scientists of all disciplines seeking to enter the private sector as employees, collaborators, or entrepreneurs.
David is the author of the books Turning Science into Things People Need and It’s a Game, not a Formula, and is an internationally recognized speaker and mentor on the topics of technology commercialization, product development, and career design. David has a BS and PhD in physics and holds seven patents in the fields of laser spectroscopy and optical communications.
Barbara von Graeve works in media and marketing since the beginning of her career. After several positions in publishing companies and advertising- and pr-agencies she settled at the marketing magazine “Werben & Verkaufen”. She soon became head of events and turned the division from a cost- to a profit-center. Because she was wandering why so many women where working at the company and still most of the leading positions where occupied by men, she founded the “W&V women network” for women in the media and marketing industry.
Since 2018, Barbara works as a senior consultant at FKi Diversity for Success with companies like Deutsche Bahn or Volkswagen on the task to get more women in leadership positions and becoming a more diverse and inclusive organization. On the basis of facts & figures the FKi provides KPIs and effective measures to work sustainably on that goal.
Elisabeth Grenzebach studied sinology and economics in Munich, Berlin, and Taiwan. She was research assistant at the Free University of Berlin and worked as editor-in-chief at the Handelsblatt publishing group. Since 2006, Elisabeth Grenzebach has been managing director of a training agency for writing. Her topics are scientific, technical, and creative writing; correspondence; as well as proposal and paper writing. As a writing trainer, she works for universities, companies, and agencies. In addition, she has finished a coaching training that enables her to help people find their personal carrier path.
Dr. Peter O. Hahn is a 69 year old physicist, who spent 30 years in the semiconductor industry; 10 years in research, 10 years in development and 10 years in marketing in leading positions. 2 years he spent as a Post Doc in the USA (IBM Yorktown Heights) and 4 years in Asia (Singapore) as marketing director responsible for Asia. After his professional career he worked as consultant and trainer at companies, universities and business schools. He focuses always on the impact and influence of culture (people from different countries) on management and negotiatons in business. During his professional career he realized that this is a very important skill and competence for success in business.
Prof. Dr. Dominik Hammer has the chair of International Management at the University of Applied Sciences, Munich, Business School since 2013. Previously he was working as Head of Business Administration at Maurer Söhne GmbH & Co. KG , Munich and as Director of Sanfield (INdia) Ltd. at Bhopal, India. After his military carreer as a staff officer in the german army he was working as a scientific assistant at the chair of International Management (Prof. Dr. Hans A. Wüthrich) at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich and received a doctor´s degree (phd) in 2008. Prof. Hammer is also lecturer for International Strategy at the CASC MBA programme of the University of the Federal Armed Forces, Munich. He studied economics and organizational sciences at the University of the Federal Armed Forces, Munich and at the Texas State University at Austin, USA. As a state qualified military mountain guide together with a partner he founded his own alpine school »Blue Mountain Spirit«, at Nußdorf am Inn. Dr. Stephan Haug is head of statistical consulting at TUM and member of the Mathematics Department. He has been teaching R courses in different variations for the TUM Graduate School since 2010.
Dr. Thomas Hausbeck’s practice focuses on advising SMEs, their shareholders and management on corporate and insolvency law and on related litigation. Dr. Hausbeck has many years of tactical and trial experience in the following areas: support and resolution of disputes under corporate law (corporate litigation),disputes with insolvency administrators, in particular relating to insolvency avoidance as well as general manager and shareholder liability.
Andreas Hauser studied, travelled, lived and worked in more than 90 countries across the globe. As an intercultural trainer and coach, he has a record of preparing over 15.000 participants from more than 150 countries for intercultural challenges world-wide, both in business and academic fields. In his inspiring training work, he builds a bridge between German value system and international culture dynamics.
Jeremiah Hendren has worked as lecturer and consultant in communication for over a decade, working especially with scientists and science-based startups. He was a lecturer in scientific writing at TUM from 2012 to 2019, first at the Language Center and then at ProLehre | Media & Didactics. During this time, he also served as the founding coordinator of TUM’s English Writing Center, helping grow the program into a robust service reaching over 4,000 TUM students per year.
Jeremiah left his position at TUM to pursue his PhD in linguistics and science communication (at LMU, in collaboration with UW–Madison, USA), which he expects to complete in 2023. Christian A. Herbst is a passionate motorcyclist and he knows how to take the windy roads in life and what to do, when the going gets tough. Early in his career, he started out as real estate agent and then consequently developed his coaching and teaching skills. He led an international school for leadership development, holds a degree in solution focused short therapy, is teaching at a Swiss coaching school and brings more than 20 years of experience as a leader, speaker, coach and trainer. In the last three years, he has focused on human resource development and succession planning. He loves helping people make the necessary changes for growth in their businesses or in their lives.
Dr. Sarah Kersten holds a doctorate in sociology and works in Learning and
Development for various research institutions and companies. Since 2019 she
supports young professionals in their personal growth as a workshop facilitator
and life coach, with a focus on personal development, strengths and potentials,
career planning, time and self-management.
Birgit Koch, Trainer for Leadership, Systematic Coaching for Teams and Project management for more than 20 years. She has been running her own company ÜBERBLICK-Systemisches Coaching since January 2003. Since that time, she has Experience as a trainer and Coach in universities, companies and Non -Profit Organizations. For her it is important to consider the individual concerns of individuals and her ability to motivate them to initiate structured processes and to maintain an overview sets desired changes in motion. With her Hanseatic nature, she speaks plainly and contributes with her many years of experience so that you achieve your goals.
Thomas Koch is a research management consultant, business trainer and coach. Holding a PhD in physical chemistry from the UK, he has 11 years of international research experience. For 13 years he has worked as a research manager and senior administrator at the universities in Bochum (RUB) and Munich (LMU), delivering high-level support and advisory services for both researchers and university top management. His professional focus covers research strategy, external research funding, knowledge and technology transfer as well as early career researcher development.
In 2016 he started up his own consultancy, academic futures, to provide hands-on workshops and individual guidance for researchers to realise their research ideas and career objectives. He also supports higher education institutions and research institutes in strategy processes and organisational development.
Dr. Iris Köhler is a career coach and experienced scientist. She studied agricultural sciences and received her doctorate at the Technical University of Munich in 2013. After a postdoctoral stay at the University of Illinois, she switched to science management and coordinated the graduate school of the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research in Leipzig. She’s passionate about supporting young scientists and therefore in 2018, she decided to found her own coaching and training company "The Scientist Coach”. Because of her scientific background, she knows exactly the challenges that young scientists are facing when it comes to career planning. And as a trained career coach and experienced course instructor, she has the right tools to help young scientists tackle those challenges, develop their own career path and discover their competencies.
Tim Korver has experiences in teaching English Communication Skills in a range of industries for more than ten years. After his studies in South Africa, he went to Australia and United Kingdom for several years working among others as a Business English teacher. Since 2004 he owns a language school in Munich providing in-company for Business Communication skills. His focus areas are in the development of communicative competences for meetings, negotiations, telephoning and emails.

Dr. Jan Kreklau is attorney-at-law and partner in the law firm Weiss ● Walter ● Fischer-Zernin, Munich. He focuses on company law, from the choice of legal form and the formation of companies to continuous advice on all matters of company law as well as M&A. In addition, Dr. Kreklau advises on issues of commercial and economic law, including the drafting and negotiating of contracts. He also represents his clients in court in all areas. Dr. Jan Kreklau studied law and obtained his doctorate from the University of Bayreuth. Since 2014 Jan Kreklau conduct courses at TUM on company foundation and management.
Dr. Daniel Kunzelmann is a researcher, lecturer and trainer on digital media and education. He studied political science, worked as a freelance journalist and did his PhD in cultural anthropology investigating social media and community building processes. He has been teaching and researching at the University of Basel since 2013. His current research focus is on the negative effects of digital media on our satisfaction, well-being and productivity. As a qualified trainer, he offers scientifically sound and application-oriented workshops on the topics of digital stress, resilience, time competence and self-management.
Dr. Wilfried Mende works since 1989 as a consultant, trainer and coach for project management, problem solving, decision finding, presentation and self management. He supports people and teams to develop and be more effective. He has several lectureships at different universities and senior colleges.
Patricia Meyer brings over 25 years of experience in various industries to the table. After 10 years as a journalist, she moved to the UK in 2005 where she developed into the role of Project Manager for an international B2B Sales and Marketing agency, planning and managing projects for clients like IBM and DELL. Regular collaboration with stakeholders as well as with her internal team across the globe also formed a vital part of her role. The skills, knowledge and experience she has acquired are central to the Project Management, Time Management and Team Organisation training she has been delivering over the last 10 years. Patricia joined the world of Higher Education in 2020 and has since been active under the Lukas Bischof Hochschulberatung brand where she has worked with various groups at universities, helping to improve processes and teams – and supporting people to become more effective. Patricia studied at Freie Universität Berlin and holds a journalism degree (Lic. rer. publ.).
Prof. Hana Milanov, Ph.D. is a Professor of Entrepreneurship at TUM. She is also an academic director of the EMBA in Innovation and Business Creation, a member of the Board of Center for Digital Technology and Management, and a member of advisory committee of Spacewalk VC (a deeptech VC fund by Motius). She served on the TUM Board of Management as a Senior Vice President for International Alliances And Alumni. In 2023, she was recognised as an Unipreneur - among Germany's 20 top professors supporting entrepreneurship.
Her research interests lie in understanding how entrepreneurs effectively acquire resources and how this influences opportunity exploitation and final performance, with an increasing focus on gender dynamics. She is passionate about teaching and working with entrepreneurial individuals and teams. She is experienced teaching undergraduate, MBA, Masters, Executive MBA and PhD programs across different countries (Australia, Croatia, Germany, Spain, and USA), and works with corporate clients as well in developing their employees (e.g. Siemens) or entrepreneurs (e.g. Deutsche Börse). She received multiple awards for her research and teaching. Prior to joining TUM, she was an entrepreneurship professor at IE Business School in Madrid, where she continues to teach as a Visiting Faculty.
Dr. Kerstin Minnich studied biology at the University of Regensburg, obtained her PhD at the Ulm University Medical Center in the field of oncology and worked as a Postdoc at the Leibniz Institute on Aging in Jena. After founding the editing service LIFE SCIENCE WRITING in 2016, she completed a writing consultant training at the University of Education Freiburg. In addition to the editing service, she works as a writing consultant and workshop trainer for scientific writing at university writing centers, graduate centers, and other scientific institutions.
Dr. Dunja Mohr, Go Academic!, certified coach and trainer, has been offering workshops, group and individual coachings for foundations, clusters of excellence, Graduate schools, universities, and universities of applied science for over fifteen years. Helga Nolte is mediator, coach and advisor in questions of good scientific practice. From 2005 to 2012 she was assistant of the German Committee “Ombudsman für die Wissenschaft” and manageress of the central office of this national board. Dr. Ulrike Schneeberg studied languages and literature at the University of Cambridge, the Université de Montréal, and the Freie Universtität Berlin. She obtained her PhD in American Studies from the Humboldt University Berlin, exploring the constructions of childhood and gender in picturebooks with monsters. Her fascination with monsters continues: in her work as a systemic coach and business trainer, she is particularly interested in all phenomena that make it difficult or unpleasant to reach a certain desired outcome. This includes better resilience and mental health (for example for PhDs and postdocs), more effective and sustainable communication (often across cultures, roles, and hierarchies), and career transitions (often from academia to non-academia). Helen Schliep, M.Sc., has recently returned to Munich. She is the daughter of two enthusiastic backpackers, which brought her into contact with different cultures and regions at an early age. Inspired by this, she studied social and cultural anthropology at the LMU with a focus on research. As the final project of her Bachelor's degree, she conducted research on the topic of "expat culture" at two locations in Malaysia. Her Master's degree took her to Edinburgh, Scotland, where she studied International Development with an anthropological-critical perspective. Again, her own research with a regional focus on Palestine served as her final thesis. In addition to her studies and research, she led an international work camp, worked for the Goethe Institute, and completed an internship in a Jordanian civil society organisation. Prof. Dr. Annelies Vandersickel is currently Head of the Thermal Process Technology Department at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), where she develops efficient and cost-effective thermal energy storage systems, a crucial building block for a successful energy transition.
She shares her expertise in this field with other future engineers as Professor of Thermal Energy Storage at the University of Stuttgart. Born in Belgium, she earned her PhD in internal combustion engines at ETH Zurich, before moving to Boston for research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and to Munich for research at the Technical University of Munich.
Her strength lies in communicating complex ideas and processes clearly and competently, and in combining the inputs and interests of different stakeholders to "get things done". Michael Wiedenmann is qualified sports scientist. From training with sports teams he started team, communication and presentation training with students and in industry. He does not see the thematic area of presentation solely as business and industry related but also from his particular point of view as a musician, band leader and actor.
Frank Wendeberg studied psychology in Darmstadt and Frankfurt am Main. He also continued his education in orchestral percussion, music therapy, relaxation techniques and audio engineering.
Since 1990, Frank has been working in the social field with people with disabilities of all ages. From 1998 he worked as a psychological specialist at an institute for visually handicapped children and later at the Dr. Löwsche Institutions. At the same time, he set up his own office with a focus on music therapy in the Regensburg area.

Prof. Amy Zhao-Ding‘s research focuses on firm’s cognition and behaviour in nascent markets and fields where game-changing technologies have enabled a wide range of entrepreneurial opportunities. She studies mobile application developers and examine how to learn from their own and others' experiences as well as customers' feedback to identify opportunities and navigate nascent markets as an uncertain and evolving functionality landscape. Broadly, Prof. Zhao-Ding is interested in approaching teaching and research in entrepreneurship with a lens of organization theory, particularly in digital and cultural industries.
