Overview
The One Health Summer School is envisaged to provide an overview about the topic of One Health and Water. Applying an interdisciplinary and international approach to the area of One Health, participants will be able to develop new ideas and cutting-edge research perspectives.
Through adopting a case study, participants will connect theoretical input and knowledge with One Health challenges in the field. The aim is to employ a collaborative, multisectoral, and transdisciplinary approach to the study of how diseases spread among people, animals, and the environment. The Summer School will include visits to nearby villages to learn about local best practices in controlling public health threats.
Goals
The project intends to achieve three main goals:
1. Developing and evaluating research study designs and new insights that inform the doctoral candidates’ and Master students’ future research projects
2. Strengthening and newly establishing networks between TUM, PU and other participating universities as well as between participants.
3. Contributing to Global South-Global North as well as South-South collaborations
Call for Applications
The call is open for post graduate candidates (doctoral candidates and Master students) who are working on topics related to human and animal health, as well as water and sanitation. Students with a background in One Health are particularly encouraged to apply. Costs related to travel, accommodation, and meals during the summer school will be catered for all successful applicants.

The deadline for submission of applications is 11th February, 2022. Successful participants will be notified by 18th February, 2022.
Objectives
The broad objective of this summer school on One Health is to synergize efforts and expertise from Germany, Kenya and beyond in order to enhance research in the area of One Health. More specifically to:
• Raise awareness on interconnectedness in One Health and need for inter- and transdisciplinary research
• Arouse or deepen the interest of future researchers in One Health and water
• Instigate new research ideas and projects on this important topic
• Create new research networks between junior and senior researchers, researchers from different disciplines as well as different countries
• Explore suitable methodological approaches that adequately address the research questions related to One Health and water

Note about COVID-19
In light of the current COVID- 9 pandemic, we are monitoring the situation. Vaccinations have been largely successful and international travel is possible again; therefore, the summer school is expected to take place in person under certain arrangements.
