Are you the first in your family to study or pursue a doctorate? Then you belong to the so-called First-Generation Academics – and often face unique challenges on your academic journey. To support you, we invite you to an Info & Networking Event at the TUM Graduate School on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Our Info- & Networking Event offers you:

  • Insights into the typical challenges faced by First-Generation Academics and strategies to overcome them
  • Practical tips for your daily life as a doctoral candidate and for career planning
  • An overview of support services available at TUM and beyond
  • The opportunity to meet successful First-Generation Academics as well as dedicated supporters
  • Time for networking in a relaxed, informal setting

As a First-Generation Academic, you are a pioneer in your family – which brings opportunities, but also questions and uncertainties. With this event, we aim to provide guidance, highlight resources, and create a community where you can exchange ideas and support each other.
