The Africa-Bavaria Tandem Mobility Grant is funded by the Free State of Bavaria and administered by the Scientific Coordination Office (WKS) Bavaria-Africa at the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR). The goal is to strengthen cooperation in Research and Innovation (R&I) between researchers in African countries and Bavaria and promote collaborative academic exchange. Target groups for the grant are advanced doctoral candidates and postdocs at public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in both Bavaria and in African countries.
This program supports travel and per diem costs for tandems of early-career researchers (one based in Bavaria and one in Africa) to conduct reciprocal research stays at each other’s institutions. Each stay must last between 14 and 31 days.
The Africa-Bavaria Tandem Mobility Grant aims to foster new academic networks, strengthen existing collaborations, and support the joint development of research projects. Participants are encouraged to make full use of institutional resources such as libraries, labs, and research sites to enhance both their collaborative work and individual academic growth.
Deadline for the application is 6 August 2025.
