About this Academy Talk
This time, the Academy Talk will be held on the topic of "New Technologies and the Perspective of Jewish Ethics". Therefore, TUM: Junge Akademie is pleased to welcome Chief Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt, President of the Conference of European Rabbis (CER), as well as Prof. Dr. Astrid Séville, interim Professor of Political Theory and Philosophy at the School of Politics at TUM, as talk guests. The talk is moderated by Sophia Leiss and Julius Wenzler, both current TUMJA scholarship holders of #class22. After a questions round, the discussion will be followed by a get-together with snacks and drinks.

About the guests
Chief Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt, born in Zurich in 1963, is president of the Conference of European Rabbis (CER). He served as chief rabbi of Moscow from 1993 to July 2022, spiritual leader of the Moscow Choral Synagogue as well as chairman of the Rabbinical Courts (CIS). He resigned from his post and left Russia in July 2022 after refusing to back the Russian invasion of Ukraine. During his time in Moscow, Goldschmidt has become an important voice of European Jewry. On many forums, he warns against growing anti-Semitism and the strengthening of the far right. Among others he spoke in Davos at the World Economic Forum.
Prof. Dr. Astrid Séville is currently interim professor of political theory and philosophy at the School of Politics at TUM. In summer term 2022, she held the Sir Peter Ustinov Visiting Professorship at the University of Vienna. Séville studied Political Science, Romance Studies and Historical Anthropology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and at the Université Denis Diderot Paris. She researches and teaches on political theory, populism and democratic opposition, social transformation and inclusion processes as well as technocracy discourses.
